Brownfield Designation for University Station Project – Community Meeting

Wednesday, September 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Fred Lippman Multi-purpose Center

While the City is NOT requesting any type of designation of the Regional Activity Center or privately owned property, at an upcoming meeting the City Commission will consider a site-specific brownfield designation for City-owned property located at 309 and 421 N. 21st Avenue and 2031 Polk Street. This site-specific designation is for the property associated with the project known as “University Station” only. The designation is proposed to be called “University Station Green Reuse Area,” a map and legal description of this area is attached.

The University Station Public Private Partnership (P3) project was approved by the City Commission October 2022, and is currently under construction. The project calls for a mixed-use development comprised of residential, commercial, educational and public parking uses. The project developer is requesting this site-specific designation as part of the State of Florida’s Brownfield Redevelopment Program.

A community meeting to discuss the designation is tentatively planned for Wednesday, September 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred Lippman Multi-Purpose Center, 2030 Polk Street in downtown Hollywood. The meeting details will be added to the City’s website calendar of events at www.HollywoodFL.org. Please visit the City’s website for the latest on this and other important meeting information.
